Overcoming Your Panic and Anxiety Attacks the Right Way

Panic attacks are usually accompanied with physical symptoms. These physical symptoms which include nausea, palpitation, hyperventilation and an overwhelming feeling of fear add up to the anxiety of the victim. Extreme conditions require further medication but natural solutions are recommended more since they do not have side effects.

If you have anxiety disorder, you must know that the symptoms mentioned above are totally normal for people like you. The symptoms may not actually cause you any physical harm but they can frighten you really bad and that’s when you start thinking crazy thoughts. Realizing that you are not alone in this condition will make things easier for you.

Most people spend the rest of their lives having constant panic attacks, while some may only experience it once. The symptoms for panic attacks may sometimes be similar to that of another medical condition so study the symptoms or consult your doctor whether you are really having anxiety disorder or not.

When experiencing an authentic panic attack, or when the panic attack is too strong, do your best to bring back your heart rate to a normal level. People usually take shallow breaths when hyperventilating. In a situation like this, ease the anxiety that you are feeling by breathing slowly and deeply.

Another very effective technique you can use is “thought stopping.” How to use this technique is very obvious, you stop the negative thoughts running in your mind at the moment you are having panic attacks. After putting such negative thoughts into a halt, replace them immediately with positive ones. This technique will give you a sense that you are in control.

Thought stopping technique is also very effective if you are suffering from social anxiety or agoraphobia. Agoraphobia is the fear of having panic attacks in public places and the best thing to do if you are experiencing it is to assure yourself that everything is going to be alright.

You will face a lot of situations that may provoke your anxiety so always be on the guard by mastering the basic techniques of dealing with panic attacks. Identify the things that may trigger your attack and learn how to respond to them. What causes your fear and anxiety is usually the mind itself. Be in command by reminding yourself that these kind of conditions can be overcome.
